NASHVILLE, TN (AP) - Fresh cut fruit and vegetable processor Taylor Farms is expanding its plant in Smyrna, adding 170 jobs.
Governor Bill Haslam announced the expansion on Wednesday, noting the project will cost $5.9 million. Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty said the state's central location and skilled workforce, along with a business-friendly environment make Tennessee a solid choice for industries to expand within the state.
Taylor Farms Tennessee President Brian Thure said Smyrna's location lets his company service 17 states within a day's drive.
The company prepares bagged salads and offers fresh cut fruits and vegetables to many of the nation's largest supermarket chains as well as delis and restaurants
