NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ A former Nolensville police officer has been sentenced to a year in prison for mail fraud.

U.S. Attorney David Rivera said in a news release Tuesday that 53-year-old Kenneth Lee of Nashville was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Monday to 12 months and a day, followed by a year of supervised release.

Lee pleaded guilty to the charge, which stemmed from a traffic stop. The prosecutor's office said testimony was given at the plea hearing that Lee stopped a woman for a suspected violation and, after learning she didn't have a driver's license, told her he wouldn't arrest her if she paid him $200.

The release said Lee acknowledged he received three money orders totaling $200.
