The National Weather Service has added a Winter Weather Advisory for Ice/Sleet overnight for the northwestern counties of middle Tennessee.  This is in addition to the Ice Storm Warning that will go into effect tomorrow afternoon.

...ICE STORM TO IMPACT NORTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT...

.CONDITIONS ARE COMING TOGETHER FOR A WINTER STORM TO IMPACT MUCH OF THE REGION LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL BRING AMPLE RAINFALL AND AS COLD AIR MOVES IN BEHIND THE FRONT...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO A FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET MIX ACROSS NORTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE TONIGHT. AS SURFACE TEMPERATURES FALL TO FREEZING...SOME SLEET AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE LIKELY OVER NORTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THE PRECIPITATION MAY CHANGE TO SOME SNOW OR FREEZING DRIZZLE BEFORE ENDING LATE FRIDAY NIGHT.

IMPACTS FROM THIS WINTER STORM COULD BE QUITE HAZARDOUS FOR NORTHWEST MIDDLE TENNESSEE.

ALTHOUGH ICE STORM CONDITIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED FARTHER SOUTH AND EAST...THERE COULD BE SOME HAZARDOUS TRAVEL ACROSS THE NASHVILLE METRO AREA INTO FRIDAY EVENING AS THE RAIN CHANGES TO MIXED WINTRY PRECIPITATION. ALL OF THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF LATE FRIDAY NIGHT.

Heaviest rain tonight has been pushing through middle Tennessee across the Nashville area...with added thunder and lightning...

Travel is discouraged if not impossible across portions of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Western Kentucky, and Missourri tonight as freezing rain, and sleet continues to fall in those areas.

Colder air will continue to work it's way south and east...and will change the rain now falling across middle Tennessee to freezing rain and sleet as the night wears on.  Travel may become difficult across northwestern middle Tennessee Friday afternoon.
